How I Make My Green Smoothies

Drinking a green smoothie is a good way to get in a few more servings of fruit and vegetables.  There are several different recipes that folks use to make them, and in this video I show you how my wife and I do ours.

We most often drink smoothies as a part of breakfast.  Ours in particular contains the following ingredients:

  • Spinach
  • Water (instead of juice)
  • Bananas (approx. one per person)
  • Homemade kefir (excellent source of beneficial bacteria)
  • Frozen fruit

It might seem weird that we use water instead of some kind of juice, but it really isn’t bad!  The bananas add just the right amount of sweetness, and using water also helps us to avoid having smoothies that are too sweet.  A smoothie that is too sugary is going to hike your blood sugar levels and likely cause you to gain extra body fat.
