  • What’s up, guys. This is Shawn from Your Health At The Crossroads. What I hope to get out of this detox is renewed energy, as well as decreased desire for bad foods after I finish. What about you?

Hello, this is Sha’Bria. What I hope to get out of this detox is just a good reset as well. I’m definitely looking forward to it!

Hello, this is Bohdana. I’m excited about the winter detox as I’m hoping to do a much needed reset.

  • Hello, this is Melanie. I know how much better I feel when I’m eating clean and exercising. I also know how satisfying real food can be when I’m not eating garbage. So I’m looking forward to getting it out of my system and getting a physical reset 🙂

  • Hi This is Star. Im anticipating this detox and looking forward to reset, refresh, and renew as we approach the new year

Hi Shawn! I have a question regarding our fruit and veggie intake during the detox. Are there certain fruits and veggies we should avoid during the detox, ie. starchy vegs like carrots, zucchini, squash or higher sugar fruits like bananas, oranges and grapes? Also, are avocados allowed? Thanks!

    • Good question, Bohdana. For this detox, I wouldn’t suggest any certain fruits/vegetables to avoid; however, the main focus is to have raw vegetables (salads) and fruits, while consuming nothing processed. So if it is uncooked and it’s a plant food, for our intents and purposes, it’s cool. That means that avocadoes are fine, too.

Thanks Shawn! That really helps. I’ll be getting my groceries tomorrow or Wednesday…I like my produce really fresh :-).

        • Glad it helps. And cool…yeah I definitely feel you on waiting to get yours.

I have my groceries (forgot to get green tea!) but can’t figure out how to add a picture from my phone. Sad, because I want to win!

    • 🙂 Try sending it to me via e-mail. What I usually do with my phone is send a picture after I’ve taken it to my e-mail address. After you’ve done that, you can forward it to shawn@yourhealthatthecrossroads.com

You still have time to win. I haven’t gotten any other pictures yet, but that could change! 😀

I wanted to share my thoughts on the detox so far. It’s going pretty well. I slept very poorly last night so I mixed up how I was supposed to do my morning beverages. I had 32 oz of water and large mug of hot lemon water. I then had a cup of dandelion tea with a little raw honey. What I noticed earlier was that I wasn’t very hungry. I was only able to eat half of my apple and I kinda had to make myself finish my salad. Maybe it was all the beverages, lol. I drank some more lemon and cucumber water and ate the other half of my apple about an hour ago. I can feel myself starting to get hungry now though. But again, so far so good.

    • Interesting. Perhaps it was the beverages then.

Yeah, on my end, stuff went well. Water with lemon, green tea and honey, apple for snack, a large salad, then another apple for snack, then large dinner salad followed by two cuties (clementines). I felt ‘light’ today, for lack of better words. At one point, I felt very, very hungry (LOL), but it was all good, though! Part of what makes it better for me is the aspect of “detoxing in community”…knowing that others are with me doing this thing. My wife made a balsamic vinaigrette dressing that was very delicious. Looking forward to day two.

  • I had a (previously planned) lunch date with a friend at her house today. Her husband is vegan so he was glad to share his kale with us, and she’s such a great friend that she munched it right along with me! By then I was really hungry, so kale and carrots have never tasted so good. The last half of the day was actually easier. And yes! It is less difficult when you know other people are doing the same thing. For an afternoon snack I did eat an avocado (I started to eat only half, but, well) and it was nice to have something with “mouth feel”, instead of so much crunchy 🙂

    • Ha, I like that…”mouth feel.” I agree that having that is a good when eating so much crunchy food. Great that everything worked out with your previously planned lunch date!

  • My first detox is going well so far. I started the day with a 24oz of water with lemon. I had a big salad for lunch , but for dinner I had a small salad because I wasn’t as hungry. As a snack I had an orange. So now I’m almost done with my gallon of water. So far so good, the tough part was earlier when my friends decided to bring chicken to my house and just rub it in my face basically (lol) that made me pretty hungry, but I didn’t let it get the best of me. I’m feeling pretty good though , looking forward to day 2.

    • Great, Sha’Bria! Yeah, it’s messed up when you’re trying to do something healthy and folks are taunting with foods that you really want. Kudos to you for holding strong.

  • Day 2 went well for me, guys. I didn’t feel too hungry, especially with having avocado to add to my salad. Water is still a struggle for me to get in because I have to make myself get used to continually drinking to flush out. It’s amazing to me how I don’t totally miss breakfast after having my tea and my lemon water.

Eating these salads like this makes me desire them even more. Don’t get me wrong, though…I do miss warm food lol.

  • Day 2 was a breeze compared to yesterday, for some reason I had so much energy today. I had my 24oz lemon water and also today I had the green tea and honey. I’m almost done with my gallon of water. I had one big salad today for lunch and a small one for dinner. As a snack I had an orange. I’m feeling pretty good honestly. Looking forward to Day 3!

    • Wow, way to go Sha’Bria! I found myself feeling a little more energized too. You’re doing your thing!

Sorry for the late day 2 comments, yesterday was a very full day. The day went very well for me. I got a good night’s sleep, started the day with a large mug of hot lemon water, then 32 oz of water and a cup of dandelion tea with lemon and raw honey. My 1st meal was the salad, which was so good. My snack was a cup of mint green tea with half an apple. My family had a pre Christmas celebration with lots of food, but I wasn’t tempted. I prepared my salad but I wasn’t really hungry so I didn’t finish it. Later, I ate some of the half of the apple. As I stated, the day went well. The only issue I’ve had is with headaches, but I read that is a side effect of detoxing. Yay Day 3!

    • Yep, you’re right…that’s a sign of the detoxification process. Great! Yeah, I really enjoyed both of my salads yesterday, too. And way to go in regards to being around pre-Christmas food and not being tempted at all. That’s good stuff.

It a challenge for me to stay on task! I did learn a lot about me and the control my tongue has over me. I found myself making healthy choices. I would get hungry then reach for a unhealthy snack then say oh no not today. I’ve lost 6 lbs so it’s on the a better and healthier me in 2018. Thank you for your ministry.

        • Amen, Verna. Thank you and your husband for joining in! Yeah, the detox process has a way of detoxing us emotionally as well. It’s one of the reasons why I am now determined to regularly detox/fast, rather than doing something once every couple of years. If you do it regularly, you give your body a chance to get cleaner and cleaner. And congrats on the 6 lb weight loss!

Day 3 completed! I am so glad I went through this experience. I was a little under the weather today but I still count the day as a success. I didn’t eat that much today but I believe the cleansing process was still in effect. My mother actually commented that my skin looked really nice today. I think I will incorporate this detox into my lifestyle. Thanks Shawn for the opportunity and your focus on holistic well being. I look forward to enjoying Christmas and the rest of the holiday season in moderation.

    • Amen, Bohdana. Congratulations for sticking with it and finishing. It’s really cool when you do this kind of thing and others notice that there’s something different about your appearance!

  • Day 3… Well I didn’t go to sleep until like 4am so I ended up sleeping a little later than planned. I still had my 24oz lemon water and I ate a big salad around 5:40pm which was basically dinner. So around 8:30 I ate an apple, I wasn’t really as hungry anyway. I just finished my gallon of water for the day. Still feeling good, I just slept later than normal because I couldn’t sleep last night for some reason. I think I did pretty good for my first detox. I plan to continue drinking a gallon of water a day and watching what I eat. I gave up candy a while ago and I’ve decided to not eat fried foods for a while. So I’m really trying to do better, the detox was really what I needed. Also, I loss 7lbs over these few days which is great!

    • Bria, congratulations on a job well done with your first detox! You really did your thing. And excellent regarding what you plan on continuing to do. 7 lbs? Wow…yes, detoxification is something serious…not only loss of fat, but the ridding of toxins from your body as well. There will be more detoxes to come from YHATC, so stay tuned!
