This is what you call Discipline!

I read a story some time ago from the inspirational magazine Guideposts on one of the best players in the NBA right now, and my current favorite…Kevin Durant.

Durant is a forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, formerly known as the Seattle Supersonics for those of you who aren’t too young.  Remember the days of Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton.

Anyway though, I really respect this guy.  First of all, he’s a young, professional athlete who is serious about God.  Secondly, he simply plays good basketball.  Third, he understands the value of good, old fashioned hard work.

“Hard Work Beats Talent…”

I read somewhere that Kevin Durant’s favorite saying is the following…

“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”

Isn’t that great?  In other words, it doesn’t matter how much natural talent you have; if you aren’t willing to work hard with it, you probably won’t get anywhere.  Thanks to his mother, Durant learned this disciplined way of living at an early age, and is now one of the best in the game of basketball.

The Message to You

The reason why I would choose to highlight this story about Kevin Durant here on my health/fitness blog is because I personally believe that we must have very similar mindsets about our own health.  A lot of people want to be healthy.  A lot of people want to lose fat and be fit.  A lot of folks want biceps, triceps and abs…

But if you’re not willing to put in the hard work – to do whatever it takes – to get it, you can pretty much forget it.

Alright, on to his story.  Read in the link below and be inspired.

Way to go, KD. 😉
