How Do Celebrities Lose Weight So Easily?

I came across an article today that was talking about how actress Charlize Theron gained 50 lbs for a recent movie role.  She talked about the difficulty of gaining weight since she was not previously used to eating so much.  Needless to say, she has lost the 50 lbs now.

Of course, right?

Celebrities are always gaining fat for movie roles, or even in the midst of pregnancy, but by the time that you see them on the red carpet.  They’re back slim and trim.  How in the world do they do that stuff?

Money, Mane

So I know what you’re thinking.  Folks are rich, and therefore,

  1. They can hire trainers, nutritionists, cooks, etc.
  2. They have the time to work out all the time

And you know what?  In a lot of cases (probably most cases), you’re right.

Chrissy Teigen, model and wife of artist John Legend, made this comment on TODAY which lays it out plain and simple:

“Anyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything … So I think people get this jaded sensation that everybody’s losing it so quickly, but we just happen to be the ones who are out there. We have nutritionists, we have dietitians, we have trainers, we have our own schedules, we have nannies. We have people who make it possible for us to get back into shape.”

So yes, celebrities have an obvious advantage!  Being a celebrity (actor, musician, etc.) is highly dependent on image, so it goes without saying that they would have resources readily available to maintain image.

With that said…stop being unfair to yourself, man!

We spend our time following celebrities on Facebook and Instagram, checking out their health and fitness #goals and going to the extremes of either idolizing them or beating ourselves up because we aren’t like them, when they live in a totally different world than the rest of us do.  Chrissy Teigen went on to say…

“But nobody should feel like [getting back in shape quickly like celebrities is] normal, or like that’s realistic.”

I definitely appreciate her for keeping it real.  Again, what I say to you is do not sabotage yourself by unrealistic comparisons to celebrities.

And Remember…Celebrities are Human, Too

I wanted to leave you with one more little tidbit from Charlize Theron.  She mentioned that after she gained the 50 lbs for the movie role, “it took about a year and a half” for her to lose it.  She went on to say, “it was a long journey, very long journey.”

Guess what.  At the end of the day, celebrities struggle with weight, too.  Although they often get the weight off, they still struggle through it, since gaining weight produces physical, mental, emotional and psychological changes which ALL must be overcome.

But Charlize overcame them.  And you know what that means.

You can, too.
