YHATC Top 10: Fast Food Restaurants

Sometimes, it’s pretty much impossible to find time to cook, even for those of us who cook often.  Toward that end, I want to provide you with my top 10 fast-food restaurants that I go to when I want a reasonably healthy meal for my family.

Don’t misunderstand me, now…I said reasonably healthy, and this is considering fast-food options in general.  Also understand that some fast-food establishments are better than others, as some use fresher ingredients, better sourced meats, etc.

If you find yourself wondering what you can eat on-the-go that’s healthy-er, I encourage you to print out this post to keep with you, and check out the websites so that you can see the specific meals that I’m talking about.

Top 8 Fast-Food Restaurants

  1. Chipotle – I will get pretty much anything from here, as I like Chipotle’s general approach to making healthy, fresh food, and it’s easy to go vegetarian/vegan if you’d like without sacrificing taste.
  2. Panda Express – There are a lot of non-fried options that contain a decent amount of vegetables, and you can also get brown rice and sauteed vegetables as sides.
  3. Smoothie King – It’s not quite food, but their smoothies can be good meal replacements if you’re on the go.  I tend to avoid adding supplements to my smoothies out of personal preference, but they have a meal replacement smoothie called Daily Warrior that adds protein via peanut butter, and it’s tasty and filling.
  4. Chick-fil-A (Salads) – I must say I like a lot of Chick-fil-a’s food, but even when I’m going healthy, I like to get their salads because the portions are decent, the ingredients are pretty fresh, and they actually taste good.  That’s a big complement for a fast-food salad, as most of them are sorry (lol).
  5. Which Wich – They’re a little expensive, but their Superfood Wich is really good.
  6. Zaxbys (Salad) – If you get their garden house salad, you avoid all of the meat and crunchy stuff and that makes the salad a decently healthy choice.  We sometimes request a boiled egg or two to our salads.
  7. Wendy’s (Salads) – I really like their Southwest Avocado Chicken Salad, but they have a couple of other salad options that are tasty as well.
  8. Taco Bell – In particular, I like their Power Menu Bowl.  It’s kinda small for me, but again, it’s not bad health-wise for a fast-food healthy option.

What do you get when you’re trying to eat healthy on the go?
